‘Many layers of paint reveal what often remains beneath the surface.’
Oscar paints from his leitmotif ‘Being in that other side’. His work shows that life does not consist exclusively of bright colors, harmony, and perfect shapes, but also of raw, confronting, and ruthless sides. With layered paint structures and intuitive compositions, Oscar expresses complex emotions and inner tensions. His paintings reveal feelings and states of mind that often remain hidden or are barely noticed in daily life.
Oscar, born in 1966 in Hoeven, spent part of his youth in Middelburg. In 1993, he obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Today, he works from his studio in the center of Rotterdam. All of his available work is for sale; view it on his website.

Title: ‘Zeitgeist’ | Dimensions: 150 x 85 cm | Technique/material: Acrylic and charcoal on paper | Created: 2026 | Retail price: €3,150 incl. frame.
In our current way of life, in the atmosphere of the now, we are constantly confronted with new, disturbing situations and ‘environments’. They exert a persistent pressure on us — paralysis, resignation, loneliness, listlessness, cramping, a sense of fusion or rather amputation, loss of direction, stagnation — which deeply affects our psyche and our existence.
An understandable human reflex would be to withdraw into comfort and safety: in a passive, fetal position as protection against danger, ignorance, uncertainty, and fear. However, there is no basis for a constructive future in that, neither for ourselves nor for the world. Is it not more meaningful to reset!?

Title: ‘Act of balance #3’ | Dimensions: 100 x 75 cm | Technique/material: Acrylic on paper | Created: 2026 | Retail price: €2,350 incl. frame.
In our current way of life and the prevailing atmosphere, we are constantly confronted with new, disturbing situations and ‘environments’. These trigger a persistent stress mechanism that deeply affects both our psyche and our physical and mental balance. Without extra effort and support for ourselves, we risk falling, literally and figuratively. The challenge is to remain in balance, despite the turbulent external influences.

Oscar schildert vanuit zijn leitmotiv ‘Being in that other side’.
