Zeeuwse land en luchten in mijn achterhoofd
Co De Bruijne (1946) Goes: “Op de HBS aldaar heeft een jonge tekenleraar mij enthousiast gemaakt voor kunst en speciaal moderne hedendaagse schilderkunst. Na heel veel kijken, bestuderen en experimenteren ben ik in 1967 gaan schilderen. Met acrylverf en soms olieverf. Met een snelle, abstracte en krachtige streek probeer ik het schilderij vorm te geven. Inspiratie: landschappen, wolken, luchten, bomen, mensen, dieren en dingen. Altijd met het Zeeuwse land en luchten in mijn achterhoofd. Ook tijdens mijn hele professionele leven ( docent) toen ik in Rotterdam werkte en woonde. In 2001 kwam ik terug in Goes en ben toen naast schilderijen mini schilderijtjes gaan maken die ik in oude diaraampjes ( 5 x 5 cm.) monteerde. De witte of grijze kant als frame. Inspiratie wederom het Zeeuwse land. Veel variaties gemaakt met de mini’s van solo, middelpunt van miniaturen, langere stroken met mini,s (tot 2.60 m.) en nu het printen op aluminium van de uitvergrote mini’s tot 75 x 75 cm. Een laatste variatie met de mini schilderijen is het maken van mozaïeken met de ingelijste mini schilderijen. In een bijna ruitvorm van 60 x 90 cm of iets groter. Met de witte kant van de diaraampjes of een mengeling van witte, grijze of blauwe kanten.

Zeeland land and skies in the back of my mind
Co De Bruijne (1946) Goes: “At the secondary school there, a young art teacher inspired my enthusiasm for art, and specifically modern contemporary painting. After a great deal of observing, studying, and experimenting, I began painting in 1967. Using acrylics and sometimes oils. I attempt to shape the painting with a fast, abstract, and powerful stroke. Inspiration: landscapes, clouds, skies, trees, people, animals, and objects. Always with the Zeeland land and skies in the back of my mind. This remained true throughout my professional life as a teacher, even when I lived and worked in Rotterdam. In 2001, I returned to Goes and, alongside my paintings, began creating miniature paintings which I mounted in old slide frames (5 x 5 cm). Using the white or grey side as a frame. Inspiration, once again, the Zeeland landscape. I have created many variations with these miniatures, ranging from solo pieces and miniature centerpieces to longer strips of miniatures (up to 2.60 m) and now printing enlarged miniatures up to 75 x 75 cm on aluminum. A final variation with the miniature paintings is the creation of mosaics using the framed miniatures. These are in a near-diamond shape of 60 x 90 cm or slightly larger, using the white side of the slide frames or a mixture of white, grey, or blue sides.”
