The concept of SPACE is the foundation from which all my projects emerge. This translates, among other things, into series of paintings featuring abstract landscapes, but also defined, wing-like spaces, where I attempt to create a connection with architecture. My landscapes are often inspired by impressions from the immediate surroundings of Den Bosch, the city where I live and work, but especially by areas I visit through my profession, both in the Netherlands and abroad. And where in the Netherlands can I find this better than in Zeeland, where the vastness, the unique light, and the combination of sea and land create the ultimate sense of peace, freedom, and SPACE for me… an inexhaustible source of inspiration. The painting shown here is part of the VLAKKELAND series. I am proud and grateful to be able to exhibit it on this occasion right here in Middelburg, in the heart of perhaps the most beautiful province in the Netherlands.

Het begrip RUIMTE is de kapstok waar al mijn projecten uit voortkomen. Dat vertaalt zich o.m. in series schilderijen met abstracte landschappen, maar ook met afgebakende coulisse-achtige ruimtes, waarbij ik een verbinding probeer te maken met architectuur. Mijn landschappen zijn vaak geïnspireerd op impressies uit de directe omgeving van Den Bosch, de stad waar ik woon en werk, maar vooral ook op gebieden die ik vanuit mijn professie bezoek, in Nederland, maar ook daarbuiten. En waar in Nederland kan ik daarvoor beter terecht dan in Zeeland, waar door de uitgestrektheid, door het unieke licht, door de combinatie van zee en land, het ultieme gevoel van rust, vrijheid en RUIMTE bij mij ontstaat…. een onuitputtelijke bron van inspiratie. Het hier getoonde schilderij maakt deel uit van de serie VLAKKELAND. Ik ben trots en dankbaar om het bij deze gelegenheid juist hier in Middelburg te mogen exposeren, in het hart van misschien wel de mooiste provincie van Nederland.
