Dagmar de Kok (Tilburg) is a visual artist who works with ceramics. After graduating in 1998 from the Academy of Art and Design in Tilburg (photography and sculpture), she further developed her skills as a ceramicist. Experimentation forms an important starting point in her practice. In her work, she continuously explores the possibilities of material, structure, and light. This investigative attitude has remained visible throughout her oeuvre over the years. Her sculptures are often constructed from countless small elements that together form a skin in which rhythm, movement, and light play a role. The layered construction also refers to time: to repetition, growth, and the slow emergence of form. De Kok has exhibited internationally and has worked in residencies in Denmark and South Africa, among others. In 2021, she obtained an MA in Art, Market, and Connoisseurship from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Pitbull Diva is a reclining guardian figure reminiscent of the animal statues that traditionally guard the entrance of a property or building. The ceramic body is constructed from countless small rods that together form a vibrating, tactile skin. Due to this structure, the surface appears to move and catch the light in different ways. Accents of gold luster enhance the ornamental and almost theatrical character of the sculpture.
Although the dog looks touchable, the association with a guard animal remains present. Pitbull Diva thus plays with contrasts: protection and danger, decoration and power, seduction and alertness.

The octopus is constructed from countless small ceramic rods that together form a lively, almost pulsating surface. The tentacles seem to be in constant motion, as if the animal is slowly moving across the pedestal. Due to this rhythmic structure, the work catches the light in ever-changing ways. Accents of gold luster enhance the play of shine and shadow.
The octopus is among the oldest and most enigmatic life forms in the sea and evokes associations with a primal force from a distant past. At the same time, the sculpture looks graceful and sensual. The work balances between control and movement, between an archaic organism and a refined, almost ornamental sculpture.

This wall sculpture refers to an animal trophy, such as a reindeer head hanging on the wall. However, the recognizable shape is broken open by a pattern of holes from which colored, soft forms grow outward. They are reminiscent of limp balloons or organic offshoots slowly pushing themselves out through the body.
As a result, the image shifts from a static trophy to something living and changeable. The work plays with contrasts: skeleton and organism, inside and outside, decoration and alienation. What normally remains hidden becomes visible, giving the animal an unexpectedly vulnerable and almost playful presence.
