Myriam Kruisheer-Ortega Altamirano

 

United by a philosophy of peace

Myriam Kruisheer-Ortega Altamirano is a Dutch-Mexican multidisciplinary artist and cultural diplomat whose work builds bridges between civilizations through art. Born in Mexico City and shaped by decades of living and working in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, she has immersed herself in diverse artistic disciplines at various international institutes. Her oeuvre includes Arabic calligraphy, Chinese ink art, and Mexican works inspired by Maya culture—each with its own visual language, yet united by a philosophy of peace, dignity, and intercultural dialogue.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in institutions such as the Patan Museum, the Haegeumgang Theme Museum, and the Yukium Art Museum, as well as on leading platforms such as the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival. Her artworks are part of museum collections in Italy, China, and the United Arab Emirates, and are held in prominent private collections worldwide.

In 2021, she received the Prix de la Presse Award in France. In 2024, she was honored by the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura. In 2025, she received The Window of the World Award Artist from Vision Art Media in New York (USA). Her work was also presented on the screens of Times Square.

Since 2018, she has served as Ambassador for the Netherlands and Vice President of the International Council of I Colori per la Pace, where she is dedicated to promoting a global culture of peace through art.
