Deze laat-gotische kapel\, die in 1629 door de magistraat van Middelburg werd toegewezen aan de Engelse gemeente alhier\, draagt een rijke geschiedenis. Bijna drie eeuwen lang diende zij als kerk voor de Engelse gemeenschap\, en tot op de dag van vandaag wordt zij nog steeds de Engelse Kerk genoemd. \n  \n \nIn deze historische setting brengen de musici van Musica Gloria – Pieter De Praetere (contratenor)\, Nele Vertommen (hobo\, blokfluit en leiding)\, Anne-Linde Visser (viola da gamba) en Beniamino Paganini (klavecimbel\, blokfluit en leiding) – een gevarieerd programma met werken van Henry Purcell\, Daniel Purcell\, en tijdgenoot Tobias Hume. \n \nDe combinatie van tijdloze composities en de unieke akoestiek van de Engelse Kerk maakt deze avond extra bijzonder. Meesterwerken zoals Henry Purcells Musick for a while\, Strike the viol en A new Ground komen volledig tot hun recht in deze inspirerende omgeving. For nearly three centuries\, it served as a church for the English community\, and to this day\, it is still known as the English Church.   \n  \n \nIn this historical setting\, the musicians of Musica Gloria – Pieter De Praetere (countertenor)\, Nele Vertommen (oboe\, recorder\, and direction)\, Anne-Linde Visser (viola da gamba)\, and Beniamino Paganini (harpsichord\, recorder\, and direction) – present a varied program featuring works by Henry Purcell\, Daniel Purcell\, and contemporary Tobias Hume. \n \nThe combination of timeless compositions and the unique acoustics of the English Church makes this evening extra special. Masterpieces such as Henry Purcell’s Musick for a while\, Strike the viol\, and A new Ground are perfectly showcased in this inspiring environment.
